So one of my friends,
whysosullen , wrote something on her page and I just couldn't have said it better myself so here is what she had to say.

Okay, based on a post I read tonight, I feel the need to put this out there. This post dealt with the fact that Stephenie Meyer is a mormon and because the mormon church tithes it's members, anything twilight related that you buy will give money to her and therefore her church and you will be funding hate.
Okay, here we go. It really doesn't matter if you love or hate twilight. It isn't about that. I'm so annoyed with people blaming an entire group of people for the passing of prop 8. And I don't just mean the mormons. They also blame the African-Americans, the Latinos and the Asian voters as well. Not all mormons supported prop 8. Not all African-Americans, Latinos or Asian voters did either. Blaming people, while cathartic, will not help us now. Nor will lashing out at those people, especially when they are marching along with us or supporting us!!! (

I get people are angry. Hell, I'm pissed too. I get the want for a scapegoat. So did Hitler. I'm not saying that people who are angry at minorities, etc. are Nazis, I'm just saying that using hate towards a scapegoat never lead to anything good.
I went to a prop 8 protest on Saturday. People who, to look at them, I would never have guessed would have been sympathetic to our cause honked and gave thumbs up to us. Old Latino and Asian ladies, Young Latino males, Old white people, etc. Even this big redneck looking guy in a pickup truck. We got a couple of thumbs down and a few middle fingers, all of which I'm pretty sure came from white people. The only person who rolled down the window of their car, called us faggots and then drove by again to make sure we got the message was a teenage white boy. Not a Latino. Not an African-American. A young, white Californian.
I get the need or want to protest. So protest the people who actually gave money to Yes on 8. You can search here:

http://www.californiansagainsthate.com/dishonorRoll.htmlBut are we really going to attack people because they give money to a church under a religious requirement? I've given money at church. I'm sure a lot of people on this list have. That doesn't mean that I support everything that the Church gives money to. I'm not defending Smeyer or anyone else who tithes because I don't know their beliefs on the matter, I'm just so sick of people blaming people just because of their religion, their race or their age. Hate knows no boundaries such as these. Instead of focusing on the people who tithe to their religions, how about we focus on a way to get this overturned and a way to get the people who voluntarily gave money to Yes to be inspired not to do so next time.

I must say I honestly couldn't have said it better myself. Why perpetuate the hate that passed the law in the first place?
